Behind the Art: Waco Escape Rooms and Waco Cha
Weekly, we are taking you behind the art – meet the businesses and artists who played an integral role in our 2020 “Art of Homecoming” activation. This week, we are featuring Waco Escape Rooms and Waco Cha!
Located on Washington Avenue, Waco Escape Rooms offers escape rooms around a story or theme and invites players to test their wits against challenging clues, perplexing puzzles, and maddening mysteries that are embedded in the rooms. This year, Waco Escape Rooms hosted art depicting a modern take on the first invitation to Homecoming, extended to alumni via a postcard. The depiction, by artist and Baylor Athletics staffer Christal Peterson, showcases Bruiser and Marigold wearing masks to stay COVID-safe, while waving.
Waco Cha, a popular stop downtown offering boba and communiTEA, featured work by Jamie Wong Baesa. Inspired by the immortal message, this mural showcased Samuel Palmer Brooks’ words, “to you I hand the torch” silhouetted against the iconic Baylor bonfire, beloved Homecoming tradition.
