New Events Page Aims to be a Hub of Connectivity
Have you ever found yourself struggling to connect into the business or nonprofit community in Waco? Perhaps you've wanted to explore entrepreneurship, network with others in your industry, or learn how to support nonprofits? A new site, launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, aims to be your hub of connectivity as the community migrates back to a new normal.
Startup Waco recently launched the first version of their community events calendar in order to provide support to citizens who just want to plug in. You may be asking 'why is an organization whose purpose is to help startups building an events page for the community?' The answer is simple. As a nonprofit, community focused, entrepreneurial support organization, Startup Waco just wants to help! Entrepreneurs are often accused of being opportunistic, and CEO Jon Passavant did exactly that! He saw an opportunity, a gap in the market, and said 'if not us, then who?'
Sites like this exist in many other medium and large cities across the country so Jon and his team pulled together best practices and examples to ensure they used both modern technology and a practical user interface to build a page that would be sustainable for years to come. As stewards of this project, it is our responsibility to ensure they have as many events and programs on their calendar. On a recent community call, Jon asked partners to send events, send links to other calendars, or just send a link to your website where you list programs so they can scrape the information. All in all, they want to make as simple as possible.
