Revolve: Welcoming Food Trucks to Campus
City Growth Solid Gold Neighbor
Studying at Common Grounds, a local coffee shop adjacent to Baylor’s campus, has become a rite of passage for generations of Baylor students. Famous for their Cowboy coffees and other treats, frequently, this Waco icon is the first experience many new to campus have when it comes to the Waco dining scene—and over the years the shop, made nationally famous by Fixer Upper, has only grown in popularity.Last year, in a partnership the first of its kind, Common Grounds—along with other local favorites within the extended Common Grounds brand family—set up shop in the Bill Daniel Student Union Building campus to accommodate increasing appetites for their offerings, particularly from the on-campus community. This trailblazing partnership with Aramark paved the way to the University’s latest collaboration with Baylor Dining, Revolve.
Revolve welcomes food trucks to campus, setting up two at a time for a two-week residency. The program launched with three goals in mind: increase dining options on campus, support small businesses, and promote a diverse array of cuisines. Trucks set up in one of two locations fully equipped with power, on Fountain Mall in front of Rosenbalm Fountain, and on Speight Avenue, near Waco Hall and Bobo Spiritual Life center. After one week, trucks swap places on campus to cater to students, faculty and staff located across campus in different spots.
This fall, Waco Cha, The HOT Dog House, Waffle Chic, Pops Lemonade, and Gelu Italian Ice have all set up shop on campus through the program, with more to come!
The current lineup of trucks can be found online, along with hours and information about each store. Know a food truck interested in participating? Contact External_Affairs@baylor.edu for details.
