Waco Safe Business Program
The Waco COVID Communications task force, comprised of local city officials, business leaders and health experts recently launched the Waco Safe Program, a two-way community pledge promoting sanitary practices and proactive measures dedicated to slowing the spread of COVID-19 throughout Waco. The pledge commits both businesses and visitors to, in good faith, adhere to local rules and health guidelines to curb the growth of the disease in our community.
What does the pledge entail?
For Businesses:
- All employees will be trained on appropriate cleaning and disinfection, hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette.
- We will implement physical distancing (at least six feet apart) amongst parties wherever possible.
- We will use disposable items when possible.
- We will follow all state, county and local emergency orders
- All employees must pass a health screening before coming into work each day.
- Employees will wash or sanitize their hands upon entering our business, and between interactions with customers.
- All employees will wear face coverings.
- We will meet or exceed all of the minimum standard health protocols for our business outlined by the State of Texas.
- Hand sanitizing stations will be available to all customers and employees, including upon entry.
- We will clean and disinfect common areas and surfaces regularly.
For Visitors:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- If soap and water are not available, bring and use hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
- Keep six feet of physical distance from others.
- Wear a face covering in public.
- Cover coughs and sneezes.
The pledge is based on current information and advice, which, due to the nature of the pandemic, is subject to change. Policies and procedures will be continually adjusted as new information is available to keep employees and patrons as safe as possible.
Community members can sign the pledge virtually online, businesses that complete the pledge will be listed on covidwaco.com and supplied with a sticker badge for in-store display. A digital toolkit is available for any entity that completes the pledge, including social media templates.
